25 years of tasty chocolate delights: it was 23 October 1994 when a new celebration dedicated to the “cibo degli Dèi” 8another name for chocolate) began in Perugia, the first year of the International Chocolate Festival. Over the years, it has become so successful that many people have marked it on their calendar as an event not to be missed. And so, Perugia has earned the title of “Città del Cioccolato”, becoming a real open-air chocolate factory for nine days every year (this year from 19 to 28 October).
Each new edition is prepared to amaze and draw in numerous visitors with many entertaining initiatives such as the now famous chocolate sculptures created by able sculptors who delight in carving veritable works of art from chocolate blocks 1 cubic metre in volume. The best part for the onlookers is that the millions of slivers of chocolate carved away are theirs to enjoy.
The 2018 edition of Eurochocolate though will add special events to reflect its “silver anniversary“. For example, a special “birthday party” is scheduled for 23 0ctober when all 25 year-olds are invited to help blow out the candles together on a giant chocolate cake.
For those who are marking 25 years of marriage, “Con il Cioccolato andiamo a nozze” launches an invitation to celebrate the ties that have stood the test of time.
Other attractions this year include the gigantic basket of chocolates, about 4 metres high, containing 25 delicious assortments of real chocolate that will be set up on the platform in Piazza IV Novembre.

In all, a lively edition this year “con l’argento vivo addosso” (is like “have ants in the pants“) as the organizers have announced.
