Christmas is really just around the corner: you can tell by the markets that spring up throughout the city and in the surrounding villages. The atmosphere that permeates all Umbrian towns now has a little added magic. The sounds, colours and smells of these happy preparations make every corner of the region festive. There is something for every taste: from artisanal products to Christmas decorations to delicious things to eat. Stop in at Foligno, hosting some of the exhibitors of the renowned Salsburg market; at Spoleto that assembles everything having to do with the Christmas tradition. Assisi has stalls for ceramics, local products and artistic creations. Perugia mounts its traditional Christmas market in the atmospheric Rocca Paolina, a market that for several years now spills into the streets of the old town. While Montecchio offers traditional sweet pasta and focaccia to taste, Faiolo concentrates on entertainment for children. At Spina, the first edition of a market dedicated to handmade items will be inaugurated while in the heart of Parco del Monte Cucco, the market will be a travelling one, moving from village to village.
