CAOS –A cultural centre for the enjoyment of the arts and creative output, Centro per le Arti Opificio Siri is the property of the Comune di Terni that converted the former SIRI chemical factory to its present vocation. With 5600 m2 devoted to cultural development, CAOS is an open and flexible centre for both production and enjoyment, including permanent exhibition areas such as il Museo d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea Aurelio De Felice and il Museo Archeologico di Terni; a vast expanse dedicated to national and international exhibits, il Teatro Sergio Secci, l’AreaLab with teaching and creative workshops, residency and artistic production ateliers, a specialized library, a video room and a café.

There is still time between now and 30 April to see the exhibit of the great Italian photographer Gianni Berengo Gardin. It’s a must! He is one of the greatest masters of Italian photography given his constant ability to surprise us with his gift of telling the story of our country and of our times. Each of the photos shown in the exhibit is presented by a protagonist of art and culture – friends, intellectuals, colleagues, artists, journalists, film directors, architects – with comments on one of the images chosen from among the huge photographic body of work of Berengo Gardin. Their texts, alongside each of the 24 photographs selected, encourage a deeper consideration of the value of the social and aesthetic witness of the images. The commentaries are those of directors Marco Bellocchio, Alina Marazzi, Franco Maresco and Carlo Verdone, architects Stefano Boeri, Renzo Piano and Vittorio Gregotti, artists Mimmo Paladino, Alfredo Pirri, Jannis Kounellis; and also of Lea Vergine and Goffredo Fofi, socialist  Domenico De Masi, photographers Ferdinando Scianna, Sebastião Salgado and promising young talent Luca Nizzoli Toetti, writers Maurizio Maggiani and Roberto Cotroneo, journalists Mario Calabresi, Michele Smargiassi and Giovanna Calvenzi, of Peppe Dell’Acqua, a psychiatrist from the Franco Basaglia team, of Marco Magnifico, vice president of FAI and of street artist Alice Pasquini.

A projection of images from the photographer’s archives with his own commentary enhances the exhibition.

Don’t miss it!
