White, red, rosé, still or sparkling, dry or fruity? The choice is always intricate and complex … but what if there were no need to choose; what if you could try many different wines and visit a variety of producers in a single afternoon?
Thanks to Cantine Aperte (open cellars), that possibility exists.
A rendezvous much appreciated by lovers of fine wines. Tastings, vineyard visits, walks and sampling in the splendid Umbrian countryside. In addition to the possibility of tasting the wines and buying them directly from the producer, you can discover the secrets of wine-making and its refinements right there in the wine cellar.
In Umbria, there are 50 wine producing partners of the Movimento Turismo del Vino who will open their doors to wine lovers Saturday, 26 and Sunday, 27 May with this edition dedicated to food and wine pairings. Cooking shows, meetings, lunches, dinners and tastings based on traditional dishes, as well as workshops for the little ones are just some of the activities organized under the banner of the very best local food- and wine-connoisseurship, a healthy and proper diet, perfect table pairings with but a single underlying theme: “Umbria, what taste, what fun!”
Once again for 2018, the partnership with AIRC (Associazione Italiana per la Ricerca sul Cancro) is being renewed to contribute to the financing of cancer research. Volunteers of the association will be on hand in participating cellars to promote fundraising through the sale of wine glasses and personalized glass holders and to provide information on AIRC and its activities.
Cantine Aperte is one of the activities that, more than many others, promotes the spread of a wine culture tied to the process of production and to responsible drinking, but also to the promotion of the region and its excellent products.
This opportunity to meet the producers and wine-cellar experts and to taste their wines is a real occasion to learn the history and traditions of the region. This direct contact allows the public to learn about and develop a better appreciation of everything regarding wine, which also includes learning to drink it better, enjoying it in moderation.
All of this to better realize the old proverb” “Wine is good for those who know how to drink it.”
